Shining Stars Homeschool Drama Team
My Story...
My daughter, Zerah, whom I call my Shining Star, was about 12 and loved drama and so I decided to put a club together without any prior knowledge. We started out in 2004 at the local library. The students in that first class came up with Star Dreamers 3-6, Star Makers 7-10, and Star Performers 11 -18 to identify them at each age level. In 2005 I was blessed to stumble across an invaluable resource “Acting Magic” in which I received the first published copy signed by the Christian author and this is what I still teach from. http://www.familyplayhouse.com/Material2.html Taught from a Christian perspective, I incorporate biblical principals from the book “Acting Magic” along with interactive games, exercises, and techniques to create a magical experience of acting for homeschool students.

We have met in several churches around El Paso for our drama class and recitals. I had no idea the level of interest or even that the Lord would have us do a full two hour production in 2008 of “The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe” presented at First Baptist Church . Since then I have had some health issues and I also dived into a career of real estate. Then in 2010 I have felt the call to turn my heart back towards home and teaching full time. God also allowed me to start up the drama class again.
In 2011, we proudly presented a full two hour production of “Anne of Green Gables” at the Chamizal . My plans in the future are to offer the acting class to all ages in the Spring 0f 2011 and then presenting another production at the Chamizal in the Fall 0f 2012 possibly of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” or another Christ honoring production. You may contact me by email if you are interested in having your students take the acting classes this Spring.
